A lot of people have asked us: what they should expect from their Network and what should they do with the Cloud?
In order to answer these questions we are launching a series of blog articles to illustrate the business context for information technology. In this series we intend to address these points:
- An effective way to think about Networks
- What you need to know about Networks
- What about The Cloud?
Frequently when discussing technology, the technology itself becomes the focus and the reason for the technology is lost. But without a business context there is no purpose to technology; and certainly no justification for the expense.
So in these articles we discuss the components of the network from a functional standpoint and not from a technology standpoint; with the goal of developing a model of technology that is useful for making business decisions.
We have chosen to make each article into an infographic for two reasons:
- The combination of graphics and text is clearer and more concise than text alone
- To make the article easier to use
Our first article in the series is “What Is A Network?” In this article we lay the foundation for the business purpose of a Network.
We begin with a premise and then we present six blocks that lead to a conclusion. We have numbered the six blocks in sequential order to aid in navigation. You can view the article in either JPEG or PDF format.
